Voluntary gambling suspension

Are you gambling more than you can really afford? Creating problems for your family? Or difficulties at the workplace? Would you simply like to "take a break" from gambling – but don't know how? In Switzerland your casino will be happy to advise and assist you concerning a voluntary gambling suspension covering all officially-authorized casinos in this country (see Swiss Federal Gaming Act BGS, article 80, paragraph 5).

Procedure

You have a choice of two possibilities:

  • You can apply for a voluntary gambling suspension in person at the Swiss casino of your choice. On arrival, please ask to speak with a competent member of staff. You must be in possession of valid official proof of identity. You will be advised of the conditions under which suspension can be lifted.   You will also be informed about the services that exist locally should you require external and independent assistance  – for example, the "Berner Gesundheit" foundation (addiction prevention) or the "Verein Schuldensaniering" (debt reorganization).
  • From this website you can also download a special form and apply for voluntary gambling suspension in writing.  The completed questionnaire should be submitted to the Swiss casino of your choice, together with photocopied valid official proof of identity (for example, Passport, ID Card, Swiss Residence Permit, Swiss Driving Licence).

Are you a concerned family member, relative, friend or colleague of a casino visitor? Have you noticed a change in his or her behaviour or financial situation as a possible consequence of gambling? If so, you may contact any casino in Switzerland (either by phone or in writing) and discuss your concerns. Any information you supply will be dealt with in the strictest confidence. Please do not hesitate to contact us or any other Swiss casino – we are at your service.
