Blackjack

The magic number is 21.

In blackjack you play against the croupier, and pure luck guarantees thrills all round. Try it for yourself! How will you play it? Will you take another card to get closer to 21 than the croupier?

Blackjack, also known by the name “21” or “17+4”, will have you on the edge of your seat. We explain to you the most important rules of play here.

Aim of the game
The aim of blackjack is to get closer to the value of 21 with the playing cards than the croupier, without exceeding the value of 21.

Participants
Seven playing boxes are arranged in a semicircle at the blackjack table. Six 52-card packets are used to play. Seated players are referred to as “box owners”. The players standing behind them must accept the box owners’ decisions.

Blackjack
A blackjack itself is a combination of an ace and a court card or an ace and a ten with the first two cards. A blackjack beats all other card combinations.

Winnings
If your cards do not exceed 21 but have a higher value than the croupier’s, you win the same amount as you bet (1:1). If you win with a blackjack, you receive one and a half times your bet (3:2).

The game
Once all players have placed their bets, each receives two cards and the croupier deals themselves one card face up.
Then, each box owner can take their turn to request additional cards until they think they are close enough to 21. Anyone who exceeds 21 and “goes bust” loses their stake and their cards. Once the last box owner has decided to “stand” (also referred to as “stick” or “stay”) and has drawn their final card, the croupier draws a second card. If the croupier has 16 or less, they have to draw another. Once he or she has 17 or more, they cannot draw any more cards.
If the croupier exceeds 21 with their cards, all players still in the game have automatically won. Otherwise, only those players whose cards are closer to 21 than the croupier’s win. If a player and the croupier have the same value, there is a “stand-off”, and the player’s stake is returned.

Insurance against a blackjack
If the croupier’s first card is an ace, you can take out insurance against them having a blackjack by placing 50% of your bet on the “Insurance” field. If the croupier draws a blackjack, the insurance bet pays 2:1; otherwise it is lost.

The values of the individual cards
The cards from 2 to 10 count at face value, while the court cards – king, queen and jack – each count as 10. The ace can be 1 or 11.

Reaching a total of 21 with the first two cards (e.g. ace and king). A blackjack beats all other card combinations.

Double
If you get 9, 10 or 11 with your first two cards, you can double your bet. Then you receive only one more card. As a standing player you can only double if the box owner does so too.

Split
If your first two cards are of the same value, for example two sixes or a jack and a queen, you can split the pair. You then play with two separate hands and can split up to three ways. For every split hand you must place a further bet of the same amount as the first. You will then receive as many cards as you need to continue playing.
If, however, you split two aces, you receive only one card. In this case, a hand of 21 does not count as a blackjack, because the card combination was not achieved with the first two cards.

Blazing 777 Blackjack Progressive™ is an exciting new way of playing blackjack, involving progressive betting as an option. Winning comes down to how many sevens there are in your hand. The more sevens you have in your hand, the more you will win.

Let’s go
At the start of each round, you place a normal blackjack bet and a Blazing 777 Blackjack Progressive bet. The croupier then proceeds to play based on the usual house rules for blackjack.

How to win
You will win if at least one of your first two cards is a seven. You will win more if both of your first two cards are sevens. You will increase your winnings again if you draw another card and get another seven.
Winnings on Blazing 777 Blackjack Progressive bets are based solely on the player’s first two or three cards.

Envy bonus
Any player placing a progressive side wager also qualifies for an envy bonus. If another player at the table gets one of the top two card combinations, all other players that have also placed a progressive side wager will win an envy bonus. The player with the top card combination gets the normal bet payout, but not the envy bonus. You cannot win an envy bonus for your own hand or the croupier’s hand.
